In the modern, post-slavery world, the chain has lost its historical symbolic association with slavery almost completely. Today the concept of a chain (or interlocking structures) is fairly common in logo design and seen as symbolic of unity, teamwork and strength.

The idea of interlinking iron rings is sometimes seen, particularly as a decorative element, but far more common are chain-like structures formed by different interlocking shapes, for example, interlocking hearts or a circle of triangles locked together like the links in a chain. Designs like these are very well suited to use in the networking and communications sectors. See the chain logos below for examples.
