QUESTION
Just a quick question
I know it say that I own the copyright to the logo but just to be clear
are you saying specifically that I would not have to go through the government
to legally copyright the logo? Will I have documents showing that it is
copyrighted?
Thank you,
Debbie
ANSWER
Hi
Debbie. Nope. The way it works is that the designer or design house automatically
owns the copyright to the works they create. At Biz-Logo we transfer the
copyright to the client at the completion of the project. This is not
something physical. The copyright is transferred because that's in effect
part of what you pay for - as per our terms of service. We do also have
a standard "transfer of copyright" document that we can send
you - just to confirm that we will make no claim of copyright on the logo.
But someone else can still claim that they used the image before you did.
The best way to protect your logo is to register it as a trademark. That's
a fairly long process though. We can do that for you at about $1,200 (for
U.S. trademarks).
Let me know if you have any questions Debbie. We look forward to working
with you.
